On Saturday, May 4, Grymes Memorial School in Orange, VA, hosted a boys U15 lacrosse tournament. In addition to the host team, The Fuqua School (Farmville, VA), James River Day School (Lynchburg, VA), and The Steward School (Richmond, VA) also played in the tournament. James River Day School (JRDS) won the event. A special thanks goes out to Grymes Memorial and its athletic director, Richard Little, for being such gracious hosts.
In the first round of the tournament, the Grymes Memorial Grizzlies fell to the Steward Spartans. The Fuqua Falcons came out strong in the first quarter to take a 2-0 lead over the JRDS Cardinals. However, the Cardinals managed to turn it around and won 6-2.
The Grizzlies played the Falcons in an exciting consolation game. The Falcons jumped out to a quick lead and held it through the third quarter. However, the Grizzlies fought back to bring the game within a goal. The Falcons scored a late game goal to seal the win.
In the championship game, the Cardinals and the Spartans played a close first quarter. Then, the Cardinals were able took over on both defense and offense. JRDS won 7-2.
